Miss Kathryn MacKenzie Sterling is a member of Rowan Resolves Society in Salisbury & this is her first State Conference. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Sterling of Colfax. Kathryn would like to honor her grandmother Kay Sterling who is a member of the Joseph Kerner Chapter of the DAR.
Miss Sterling is a freshman at Cape Fear Community College. She graduated cum laude from Southwest High School last year. While a student she was a member of the soccer team & chosen as the team Captain her senior year. She has also played club soccer, serving as Captain in 2012. As part of her educational experience last year she traveled to Scotland, Ireland & England. Kathryn has been member in the Children of the Confederacy since age 9 & has traveled to many states to carry out her duties. She has held many Chapter, NC Division & general offices within the organization including serving as the NC Division President for 2012 – 2014.
Katie would like to honor her Revolutionary Ancestor Alice Orrell of Maryland who provided food and supplies to the Continental Soldiers.
Katie is being presented by her father Patrick Brian Sterling and her mother Lori Evans Sterling. The Assistant Marshal for is Mr. Patrick Brian Sterling, Jr., Katie’s brother. Patrick is the Custodian for the Children of the Confederacy.
