Sara Grace Easom, Debutante, March 2006

Miss Sara Grace Easom is a member of the Isaac Hunter’s Tavern Society in Garner. Her parents are Ms. Lori Irey of Florida and Mr. Matt Easom of North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Lynne Belvin, our Senior State President. Sara has served as State Conference page before becoming getting elected to the State Board. Her offices were Librarian-Curator, Historian, Corresponding Secretary & past Editor of the Tarheel Tattler newsletter, and served as chairman. On the local level she presided as secretary, Vice President and local newsletter editor. Sara is also quite involved in the Children of the Confederacy where she served as Page & Head Page for State Conventions. She is a charter member of Mosby’s Ranger’s Chapter having served as president and earned the Silver Jefferson Davis Medal. Currently she is a member of the Captain Samuel A. Ashe Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy & a junior member of the Captain Johnson Blakeley Chapter of the US Daughters of 1812.

Sara is a senior at Lake Howell High School in Florida where she is Petty Officer 1st class in the Navy Junior Reserves Training Corps. As a member of the Air Rifle team, she has been awarded 15 ribbons and holds the position of Staff officer. She has received the Principle’s Award and made honor roll list.

Sara’s revolutionary ancestor was Lieutenant Edward Cox of Virginia. He served in the Virginia Militia in Powatahan County. She also wishes to acknowledge ancestors Ensign Thomas Shute from North Carolina. He was in the 10th North Carolina Infantry, & was at Valley Forge with George Washington. From the colony of Virginia – James Noel; Richard Thomas Haile; Thomas Dix; and Charles Chritian, Sr. All of whom supplied food or supplies to the Continental Army.

Sara is being presented by her grandfather Mr. Thomas G. Belvin, President of Isaac Hunter’s Tavern, and a member of SR & the SAR.

Her assistant Marshal is her father Mr. Matt Easom.

Sara’s escort is Mr. Aaron W. Strong of Florida.
