The NCSCAR Senior State Board met on Saturday, June 16th. Thank you to all of you who were able to attend!
The official minutes will be published later, but here are the high points of the meeting:
- Daisy presented the National President’s project from the Southeastern Regional Meeting, and the State President’s project.
- The 2018-2019 budget was passed and will be published with the official meeting minutes. Members will approve it at Summer board, but that should be quick.
- The final report from the 2018 state conference was presented, and the results of the post-conference survey were presented and discussed.
- The Summer Board confirmed for Saturday, July 28, 10:30 on the beach at MCB Camp Lejeune. Invitations will go out this week. Please note additional information will be required to get civilians onto the base for the event). (This event was renamed after the meeting in the planning process to the “Summer Member Workshop, Picnic, and Board Meeting” to reinforce that this event is not just for members of the board)
- The board officially approved leaving distribution of the Tattler up to the SrPrez and the Tarheel Tattler editor… and agreed with the plan to email links to all for whom we have emails; and for those with no email available a postcard will be sent that explains the new all-digital format, requests their email if they desire to continue to receive the TT, and a link for them to go get their current digital copy. We’ll probably send a postcard twice.
- The DAR Regent/SAR Most outstanding CAR Member award will go from being the application process it is today to allowing each society to nominate one of their own for the award. Each society that chooses to will submit a nomination with supporting documentation to the contest chair via…
- EMAIL! Societies will now be encouraged to submit all contest entries to CONTESTS@NCSCAR.ORG The due date is still February 28th so that we stick FEBRUARY in people’s heads as the due date. Thanks to Gary the new email address is already up and live.
- Contests will remain the same as the National contests instead of being re-written. A blanket statement that significant additional weight will be accorded to entries that focus on North Carolina for NCSCAR contest winners. Awards will be reduced from many to just 1st and 2nd, and $$$ allotted accordingly. There are a couple contests that will be re-written by the senior (Julia is re-writing the NC Merit award, for example, to specifically support NC as one of the requirements)… but in general instead of re-writing the contests, Contest Officers and Chairmen will…
- Promote their contests instead of re-writing them. They will be expected to:
- Write at least 1 article for the Tarheel Tattler during their term, explaining the importance of their committee focus and their contest
- Present their contest to at least 2 different Societies
- Send an email via the Corresponding Secretary to all Societies during their term encouraging the local societies to enter their contest.
- Future meeting dates were confirmed:
- Summer board: Saturday 7/28 at MCB Camp Lejeune
- Winter board: Saturday 11/3 Greensboro/Charlotte area
- 2019 state conference: March 22(?), 23, 24 (Friday is negotiable, site to be determined)
