Hello C.A.R. Members and Seniors,
The New Year is here, brimming with new opportunities to serve others and to learn even more about history. I encourage local societies to make your last few society meetings special: have strong programs, encourage members to take part, invite prospective members, and always have fun! Be sure to enter the program contests according to our State Handbook. All contests must be postmarked by February 28th. Also, all eligible members are encouraged to apply for the Fleming Scholarship, which will be presented during our Awards Ceremony on Saturday night at State Conference.
We are entering into the time of year when many Revolutionary War battles took place in North Carolina, thus, there are many opportunities to attend SAR reenactments and Memorial Services across our state. I would encourage you to check the SAR website for the schedule of events and then participate in a Memorial or Reenactment near you! It will make American History come alive!
I want to invite all C.A.R. members and seniors to attend our State Conference on March 16-18 in Raleigh. The Invitation and Registration packet are included in this issue of the Tattler. Please look over the details and send in your Registration Form before the March 2 deadline. Notice that the Hotel room deadline is February 17th. This will be a very special conference because it falls on St. Patrick’s Day!
We have a special Irish theme for all things planned that weekend. Remember to wear some green or you may get pinched! (Joel, don’t forget your green sport coat!)
I would like to thank Megan for a successful year as State President. She has represented our State Society well at DAR and SAR events and has visited with our local societies. I also appreciate the support of her Mom, Kathy.
Come join us as we learn about the success of our State project, “Common Threads in a Shared Tapestry”, and support Megan as she finishes her C.A.R. year with a fun-filled Conference weekend. Come and take part in YOUR State Society! Enjoy YOUR membership! I hope to see you there!
C.A.R.ingly,
Rebecca Bottoms, Senior State President
