Fall 2017 Tattler Message

Hello C.A.R. Members and Seniors,

Greetings to each of you! The year has flown by and it is already December! I hope you will be able to take part in many of the special events of the Holiday Season: Wreaths Across America, Christmas Parades, and parties for our veterans & shut-ins. Take every opportunity to spread the Christmas spirit and a word about the C.A.R.

Our Winter Board Meeting, hosted by the Eleanor Wilson Society, took place at Town Creek Indian Mound near Mt. Gilead on November 18th and was a fun day of learning about the Indians in the central part of North Carolina. The weather was beautiful, so members and seniors alike enjoyed the picnic lunch and the tour of the historic site. State President, Megan Benedict, presided over the Joint Business Meeting, where officers, chairmen, and local society presidents reported on their activities since our Summer Board Meeting. The proposed revision to our State bylaws was approved by the State and Senior State Boards and will be voted on by the membership at the State Conference in 2018. My thanks to.the families that came and participated in such a fun day. This event reminded me of the numerous State Historic Sites across North Carolina that are open to the public and free! Go to their website and look up sites in your part of the state so you can enjoy history in your own back yard! As a follow-up to the key mystery, my lost key ring was returned safely the following week, so all is well. My gratitude to those who stayed and helped me look for it.

Families need to mark their calendars now for March 16, 17 & 18, 2018. The State Conference hotel has been reserved in Raleigh, and Carolyn Coordes, Conference Chairman, along with your State and Sr. State Presidents, are already planning this event. The fact that it is St. Patrick’s Day Weekend is the inspiration for some fun events focusing on GREEN!

Let me take this opportunity to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Enjoy this beautiful season with family and friends.
