Spring 2017 Tattler Message

Hello C.A.R. Members and Seniors,

It has been a wonderful year with State President Mary Lee Howell at the helm. Her State project, raising funds for the Richard Caswell Memorial in Kinston, has been a smashing success as it raised awareness of this great patriot in North Carolina history. State Conference in March was the culmination of the year, as we welcomed members and seniors from all across the state and learned of the activities of our local societies through reports. It was also exciting to hear of all the activities of individual members as they supported patriotic endeavors throughout the year in their own home towns. I want to thank each of my Senior State Officers for their support throughout the year and their assistance during State Conference.

Just a few weeks after our State Conference, 11 members and 13 seniors traveled to Arlington, VA to attend and participate in the C.A.R. National Convention. What an exciting time it was as our own Mary Lee Howell gave our State report, with President-elect Megan Benedict carrying the North Carolina flag. This year, three North Carolina members ran successfully for National offices: Mary Lee Howell- Vice President of the Southeastern Region; Emily Wagner- National Organizing Secretary; and Shelby Putnam- National Registrar. We are proud of each of these young ladies and wish them well as they represent the National Society as well as North Carolina across the country this coming year.

With Flag Day right around the corner, and the Fourth of July coming quickly, let me encourage you to seek out and be involved in patriotic events this summer.
