Jocelyn Dawall, Debutante, March 2011

Miss Jocelyn Dawall is a member of the Governor Alexander Martin Society in Winston-Salem, where she has served as Recording Secretary. She participated with her Society in ‘Wreaths Across America’ on December 11, 2010. For Constitution Week, she set up displays at two local schools. She was recently admitted as a member of the Mayflower Society.  Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dawall of Advance.

Miss Dawall is a current senior at Davie County High School in Mocksville. At school Jocelyn and her team received 1st place at the Envirothon and 2nd place at the Science Olympiad Regionals.  She has been involved in the Art, History and Science Clubs at her high school. Jocelyn is a developing artist and has had her work displayed at numerous art exhibition locations, including Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She has received numerous art awards for sculpture and drawing.

She has traveled to many parts of the world, including Russia, France, Mexico, England, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean and to both the East and West coasts of the United States. She plans to study abroad while at college.

Jocelyn would like to honor her Revolutionary Ancestor Edward Hall Jr., who volunteered in the Company of Captain Joshua Early. He was a Private in Captain Joseph Fuller’s Company and Colonel Thatcher’s Regiment.  Private Hall was entrusted to guard British troops. She would like to acknowledge Private Hall’s father, Edward Hall Sr. also served his country at age 72.
