Miss Mary Stuart Moore and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams Moore from Raleigh. Her mother Sally is a member of Caswell Nash Chapter DAR. Mary Stuart is one of the newer members of the Joel Lane Society
Mary Stuart is a senior at Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh where she plays in the 1st Violin section of the Upper school Strings Ensemble and has played in the Faculty Student Orchestra during the last few years. Her other school activities also include playing on the tennis and softball teams and has been statistician/manager for Ravenscroft’s JV Boys’ Basketball team or the school’s Wrestling team for all 4 years of high school. Last year she was President of Peer Helpers. She has been on the honor roll for all 4 years and received the Best 8th Grade Spanish Student Award
Mary Stuart would like to honor her Revolutionary Ancestor Captain William Goldston, who served in the North Carolina Militia, 1778 – 1782. Captain Goldston opposed the Loyalist Colonel David Fanning, who is most famous for attacking the Alston House at the House in the Horseshoe. The Alston’s were the cousin’s of Captain Goldston.
