Rachel Kathleen Horne, Debutante, March 2006

Miss Rachel Kathleen Horne is a member of the Joel Lane Society and is the daughter of Gary and Renee Horne of Raleigh. Rachel is the outgoing State C.A.R. President, & has served as vice president, recording secretary and chairman, in addition to past president of her local society. Last year she was the recipient of the Fleming Scholarship, Outstanding C.A.R. member & Most valuable member. Rachel has also been a delegate to the National Convention was installed as president at Mount Vernon last April. As president she represented the state at DAR & SAR meetings and attended Southeastern Regionals. This past May she was a page at the DAR state Conference.

A freshman at Elon University, Rachel is on the Deans List and is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and the Student Union Board Stage Committee. She is a 3rd chair flutist in the school concert band and a member of the University’s marching band, the “Fire of the Carolinas”. Rachel also attended Governor’s School for music.

Rachel is honoring Captain Henry Horn, her Revolutionary ancestor from Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Troop of Horses, with the 4th Virginia Regiment and also in Pulaski’s Legionary Corps. She also would like to acknowledge the service of patriot James Lester, Sr. and his son Isaac Lester, who was a soldier. Both were from South Carolina.

Rachel is being presented by her father Gary Horne: Senior State C.A.R Vice President, Joel Lane Society President, and member of the Raleigh Chapter SAR.

Rachel’s escort for the evening is Mr. Patrick Crist, Honorary North Carolina State President, Gov. Alexander Martin President and member of the Bethabara Chapter SAR. Patrick is a junior at Wake Forest University.
